It is a unique<br \/>\nstudy program focusing on migration through an intercultural approach and providing profound theoretical<br \/>\nskills in migration studies combined with field work in Europe and Africa. EMMIR addresses important<br \/>\ncontemporary issues in an emerging field of study.<br \/>\nEMMIR is jointly run by three African and four European universities, facilitated by a wider network of<br \/>\npartners. Various associate organsiations on the regional, national and international level provide significant<br \/>\nassistance for student internships and graduate\u2018s employment.<br \/>\nEMMIR understands students\u2018 mobility as a key to mutual understanding of different views and cultures<br \/>\nof migration and movement. It aims at sharpening intercultural sensitivity and includes study periods in both Europe and Africa.<br \/>\nEMMIR students will specialise in one of the four program foci Gender, Development, Representation,<br \/>\nEducation. Graduates will be awarded a joint degree by the EMMIR partner universities. This will provide them with excellent chances for employment in national and international governmental and private sector organisations or in the academia.<\/p>\n<p>EMMIR is jointly run by<br \/>\n\u25aa Ahfad University for Women, Omdurman, Sudan<br \/>\n\u25aa University of South Bohemia, Czech Republic<br \/>\n\u25aa Makerere University Kampala, Uganda<br \/>\n\u25aa Mbarara University of Science &#038; Technology, Uganda<br \/>\n\u25aa University of Oldenburg, Germany<br \/>\n\u25aa University of Stavanger, Norway<br \/>\n\u25aa University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia<\/p>\n<p>EMMIR Partners in the consortium represent multidisciplinary expertise in migration studies and intersecting<br \/>\nfields, such as gender studies, cultural studies, as well as education and development studies.<br \/>\nThe four European and three African universities in the partnership collaborate with associates in the six<br \/>\ncountries in order to tie in with social dynamics as well as securing graduates\u2018 employability. A maximum<br \/>\nof 30 students will be admitted for each cohort (scholarship and self funded students).<\/p>\n<p>The areas represented by our associates are:<br \/>\n\u25aa aid and advocacy<br \/>\n\u25aa civil society and culture<br \/>\n\u25aa research and documentation<br \/>\n\u25aa local authorities, schools and continuing education.<\/p>\n<p>European Master in Migration and Intercultural Relations<br \/>\nEMMIR Master Course 2013 -2015 Mobility Path and Tentative Calender<br \/>\nEMMIR combines the mobility of the full cohort with individual research mobility and specialization. The<br \/>\nmobility path serves two purposes: On the one hand it exposes students to different migration policies,<br \/>\nvarious approaches to intercultural relations, several academic institutions and economic, social and cultural<br \/>\nsettings that are shaping migration processes as well as migrants\u2019 experiences.
