The selected candidate will spend three to five months at the <strong>University of Iceland in Reykjavik<\/strong>. The Council for International Exchange of Scholars administers the Fulbright Scholar Program on behalf of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Iceland, founded in 1911, is the oldest and largest university in the country. It is a modern and rapidly developing institution, and the majority of its permanent academic staff have studied and researched at respected foreign universities. The school\u2019s Vigdis Finnbogadottir Institute of Foreign Languages is the main research center in area and language studies in Iceland. <\/p>\n<p>This specific award is open to all levels of scholars except early career, and <strong>a PhD is required<\/strong>. The university\u2019s Graduate Program in Inter-American Studies will launch in the fall of 2014, so the selected candidate will teach graduate courses and provide input on curriculum development.
