{"id":5596,"date":"2014-10-03T18:00:25","date_gmt":"2014-10-03T18:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.interamericanstudies.net\/?p=5596"},"modified":"2014-10-03T18:04:58","modified_gmt":"2014-10-03T18:04:58","slug":"4-research-assistant-positions-at-tu-berlin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.interamericanstudies.net\/?p=5596","title":{"rendered":"4 Research Assistant Positions at TU Berlin, Deadline: October 17, 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Technische Universit\u00e4t Berlin offers an open position: <\/p>\n<p><strong>4 Positions &#8211; Research Assistant &#8211; PhD candidate &#8211; 0.5 part time<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nEntgeltgruppe 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen<br \/>\nFaculty VI -Department of Ecology<br \/>\nReference Number: VI-369\/14<br \/>\n(to be filled as soon as possible for a period of 4 years \u2013 with an additional 5th year after successful evaluation\/<br \/>\n<strong>closing date for applications 17.10.2014<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Working field<\/strong>: The research group RuralFutures &#8211; financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) focuses on South American native grasslands as heavily used socio-ecological systems.<br \/>\nThese grasslands are currently subject to expanding land use changes by afforestation and by agro-industrial soya<br \/>\nbean cultivation for the globalized market. Transnational forest industry and local small-scale forestry are planting mainly non-native species. Although afforestations are being established at high rates, effects on ecosystems are controversially debated and scientific studies are scarce. At the same time, only negligible parts of the region have a nature protection status. The Rural Futures project applies the conceptual framework of \u0301Multifunctional Productive Landscapes \u0301 to silvi- and agriculturally modified grasslands of Uruguay and defines steps towards sustainable rural landscapes, which incorporate biodiversity targets and enhance ecosystem services.<br \/>\nThe positions are assigned to thematically specific research modules (see below). The results for each PhD thesis will be achieved in specificres earch module tasks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong>: Successful candidates must have completed a university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent)<br \/>\nin biology, geography, ecology or similar with good knowledge of landscape ecology.
