En esa permanente contradiccion se definen los significados que dan sentido a estos barrios y pandillas transnacionales. Recurrentemente, &#8220;&#8221;fuentes policiales&#8221;&#8221; no identificadas &#8220;&#8221;filtran&#8221;&#8221; informacion que mantiene el tema de Las Maras como uno de los factores internacionales de riesgo, no solo en America sino tambien en Espana. Las maras integraron a una parte de los jovenes emigrantes centroamericanos que huyeron de la guerra civil en Centroamerica y que encontraron en los barrios estadunidenses nuevos ambitos de relacion entre inmigrantes y diversos grupos etnicos y nacionales, especialmente con mexicanos y chicanos organizados en barrios de cholos u homies con varias decadas de reunir tributo a la cultura del gang. Las Maras\/Identidades juveniles al lmite, es un trabajo colectivo con el cual se busca comprender el sentido de barrios, pandillas, clicas y Maras.
