June 30th – July 13th, 2013 – Seggau Castle | Leibnitz | Austria<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Graz International Summer School Seggau is designed for internationally oriented, highly motivated students from all disciplines, who wish to deepen their understanding of current European and international affairs by concentrating on the regions of South Eastern Europe and the Americas and by studying and discussing global developments and challenges within the context of collective issues reflecting aspects of individual, social, political, cultural, regional, economic, cohort and national identities.<\/p>\n

2-week summer university with a campus atmosphere at Seggau Castle
\n 6 ECTS credits (for participation and seminar paper)
\n Lectures, panel discussions and 10 parallel seminar modules
\n Discussions with international lecturers and guests
\n All-inclusive-package (tuition, meals, accommodation, extracurricular program and field trips)<\/p>\n

Focusing on the emphasis areas of the University of Graz \u2013 South Eastern Europe and North, Central and South America \u2013 this year\u2019s summer school will take place from June 30th to July 13th, 2013 at Seggau Castle in the South-Eastern corner of Austria in the wine region very close to the Slovene border.<\/p>\n

Emphasizing the aspects of identity\/identities, interdisciplinary morning lectures will provide the context for the ten specialized seminar workshops in the afternoon. Four of the ten thematic seminars have a strong focus on Inter-American Studies – literature & culture, cultural identities, indigenous identities and urban & regional identities.<\/p>\n

Project Organisation<\/strong><\/p>\n

The University of Graz in cooperation with the Commission of the Bishops\u2018 Conferences of the European Community (COMECE) and the Diocese Graz-Seckau. The Center for InterAmerican Studies acts as the coordinating unit in collaboration with the Office of International Relations of the University of Graz. <\/p>\n

Aims and Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n

Interdisciplinary co-operation of teachers and students on the cultural, intellectual and historical dimensions of current European and American affairs in view of their positioning in a globalized world.
\nPresentation in research and teaching of focus areas of the University of Graz \u2013 South Eastern Europe and North, Central and South America.
\nDevelopmentand education of young leaders of tomorrow in the fields of politics, administration, business, science, culture and religion.<\/p>\n
