Quetzal Jubilee 2010 – 2010 Año Internacional del Quetzal

Con motivo del bicentenario de la independencia de Latinoamérica de España, el Hispanic Research Center de Arizona State University quiere informarles sobre las actividades que tendrán lugar en 2010 asociadas con el Año Internacional del Quetzal. El quetzal ha sido un símbolo de la libertad por miles de años.
ACTIVIDADES PROGRAMADAS PARA LA PRIMAVERA DEL 2010!
Entre el 16 y el 19 de marzo, el Proyecto Quetzal estará en Antigua, Guatemala, asistiendo a la conferencia “The Maya Meetings”. Durante estas fechas, estaremos mostrando y tendremos disponible un DVD producido por el HRC que abarca áreas de investigación asociadas con el quetzal en la ciencia, la conservación, el ecoturismo, el arte y la cultura, las cuales son de gran interés para los investigadores del quetzal y el público en general. También estará disponible la versión digital completa del Códice Florentino compuesta de 16 DVDs. Por primera vez, los investigadores podrán tener acceso a este códice, que incluye miles de ilustraciones.
El 7 y el 8 de abril el proyecto estará en Costa Rica, y posteriormente viajará a la provincia de Chiriquí, Panamá, donde estará el 15 y el 16 de abril.
Queremos extender una cordial invitación a todas las personas e investigadores que estén interesados a participar en el proyecto con presentaciones, fotografías y películas relacionadas con el quetzal.

On the bicentennial of the Independence of Latin America from Spain, we are proud to tell you about the 2010 International Quetzal Jubilee. The quetzal has been a symbol of freedom for thousands of years.
TWO MAJOR ACTIVITIES ARE HAPPENING THIS SPRING!
Between March 16 and 19, 2010, the Quetzal Project will be in Antigua, Guatemala, during the 2010 Maya Meetings. We will be making available a DVD of scientific, eco–touristic, and cultural interest to both specialists and the general public. We also will have available a digital facsimile of the complete Florentine Codex on a 16 DVD set. The codex contains thousands of full-color illustrations executed by indigenous artists.
The project will later be in Costa Rica between April 7 and 8, 2010 and in Chiriqui Province, Panama, between April 15 and 16.
We invite interested individuals to participate in the project with research presentations, photographs, and video.
